Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Recently it leaked that Sega would be putting out yet another Genesis collection. It will be coming out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in May. It seems like there are plenty of ways to play classic Sega games whether it be through one of their knock off retro console designs (done by a 3rd party), owning the collection on previous gen consoles, and of course through emulation (whatever your device of choice is). You can even get Sega classic games through the Google Play Store, and the iOS App Store. Let’s see what’s in this upcoming collection.

Here’s a link to IGN’s article on the collection. There you will see the list of games and what has been on the two past Genesis collection’s. The one that came out in September 2017 designed by AtGames known as the Flashback Console, and Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection which came out back in 2009 on previous gen hardware (PS3 & Xbox 360). It seems like Sega will just keep putting out these collections one way or another. There are a few differences but for the most part more than 80 percent of the games are the same. I know a few games didn’t make this upcoming one since they were Game Gear games but I do have a few problems with the collection. Why isn’t Sonic The Hedgehog 3, or Sonic & Knuckles not on this collection? If you can have the whole Golden Axe trilogy, and Streets of Rage Trilogy why not the original Sonic games. Now I don’t include Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball, and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine as part of the original Sonic games. Another game I’m a little surprised that didn’t make it was Eternal Champions. I did a post about this game as part of my music series blogs last month. It’s a Sega original so why not? I hear it is pretty difficult though.

Now my biggest problem is why isn’t this coming out for the Nintendo Switch? Now I do understand because of it’s physical limitations not everything can come out on the Switch (even though some gamers would prefer it). I do have a few theories as to why it’s not it won’t be on the Switch. Virtual Console! We need to see what the status is with that and if it will feature any Sega Genesis games. Sega probably has no information from Nintendo what’s going on with it so they probably went with the better safe than sorry route. Another theory I have could be on Sega’s end. Maybe they didn’t want to bring it to Switch. But one way or another if you look at it, it is puzzling. And we all know that games can run on the Switch. So yeah the physical limitations excuse won’t work for this one not being on the Switch.

So if you are interested in picking this game up I’ll leave links to Amazon pages for both the PS4 version and Xbox One version. Let me know if you are going to pick it up in the comments below. I hear that you will be able to play co-op online, save states, and rewind features in this collection. Me personally I think I may pick it up later on down the line. Playing a game like Streets of Rage with someone online sounds pretty awesome. Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL. Remember that TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE! Thanks reading folks, and I’ll catch you all next time! Later!

    1. Vectorman was awesome. I’m a big Sonic fan! Streets of Rage is always a great co-op beat em up. I hear it’s going to have online features so I’m curious to see what they are. It may be a determining factor if I decide to buy it. It’s a bummer that it won’t be on the Switch however!
