Cross-Platform Play In 2018

Happy New Year readers! Blogging live to you and yours it’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL. Now since this is my first blog on this website you would probably be expecting a short bio about myself or something else along those lines. I’m not going to do that because there is a tab at the top named about me. If you want to read about my history in gaming feel free to read that section of the website. I’m not going to do that in this post. If you do have any questions however I would be more than happy to answer them. Maybe even perhaps turn one of my answers into an actual blog post. So if you have any questions please ask away.

Now that we are in 2018 one of the things I wonder that will pick up this year is cross-platform play. Now we’ve already seen it with a few games. Xbox and PC do already for a ton of games. But the main games we’ve seen it on is Rocket League and Minecraft. And with those two games it is compatible between Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch users. I think that this technology is great and I believe it’s only going to bigger in the future. Starting with this year. I do predict that Fortnite will have cross-platform play if it comes to the Nintendo Switch. We know it’s not very hard to do. They did “accidentally” have Xbox players playing with PS4 players this past summer on the same servers, so we know the technology is there and isn’t very hard to do from a technical stand point these days. Players want to do it and the developers want to do it. Look at this video below.

Yes I know I want it! It would be awesome to play games such as Fortnite, Destiny 2, Call of Duty WWII and other multiplayer games with gamers who are on different platforms. In most households around the country consumers will only buy one console. There are not a whole lot of people who get 3 current gen consoles or even 2 current gen consoles. They get the one they like the best and run with it. So if you are good friends with someone and you both play the same game, but play it on different platforms it can just be a bummer that you both can’t play the game together. It totally makes the gaming experience so much more fun if you are playing a game with someone you know. Especially if that someone is a person you see on a daily basis such as a classmate or co-worker. So if Sony would wake up and smell the coffee and make this happen it would make a lot of gamers happy. I love Sony but I don’t agree with their stance on cross-platform play. But I do feel starting this year we start to see an increase in titles that will support cross-platform play between Microsoft, PC, and Nintendo. My prediction is that it will eventually get to the point where Sony will start talking about the topic with their competitors. We can only hope as gamers that this comes to fruition.
