Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! I got another interview for you guys with another great blogger from the blogging and gaming community. Today’s interview is with Alyssa. She has her blog the Nerd Side of Life. If you haven’t checked it out please do so. She’s got a lot of awesome things going on there. She also has a YouTube channel where she makes gaming videos entitled StardewSimming. If you love Stardew Valley or The Sims 4 then you’re in for a treat. Anyway more from me later! Let’s get into this interview.
2TALL: Hello Alyssa. Thank you for setting aside some time to do this interview. I know we’ve talked about it a while back but better late than never finally getting around to it. So Nerd Side of Life! How did you come up with that name?
Alyssa: I came up with this because I wanted to originally use just Nerd Side – kinda like Dark Side of the force and stuff like that. I thought that was to similar to another blog so I changed it up and just added ‘of life’ to the end of it to make it sound different and I actually ended up loving it.
2T: I love the creativity in that name. When people go to your blog what can they expect?
A: They can except posts of geek kind – reviews on movies, shows, games, tags, challenges, and some rant and ramble posts. And lots of swears. It’s a bad habit that I’m probably not going to break.
2T: LOL! We all have bad habits of some sort we’ll never break. So what made you want to get into blogging?
A: Honestly, I don’t even really remember what it was. At first I wanted to be one of those quirky lifestyle bloggers that dressed pretty and had their act together and quickly I realized that was not for me. So then I decided that geek was my thing and I’d write about that. I’ve always like writing so a blog was kind of my perfect space.
2T: I guess being a lifestyle blogger isn’t for everyone. But at least you are writing about stuff you are passionate about. What blogs are you inspired by?
A: I am so inspired by Megan at A Geeky Gal and Michelle over at A Geek Girls Guide. I love reading the both of their posts.
2T: Those are great blogs I read as well. Megan I did an interview with her about a year ago. What tip you would give to someone wanting to start a blog?
A: Just do it. Simple as that. Pick a basic theme and a temporary url that you can always go back and change, pick what you mainly wanna write about and go. And write a lot. Write to much.
2T: Great advice. What are some of the challenges that come with blogging?
A: For me, it’s comparing myself to others. Seeing new bloggers gain success and popularity quicker than I do gets me down a lot, but I keep reminding myself that everyone grows at their own pace really. I have anxiety and depression so it gets to me a lot more than it should.
Besides that it’s just coming up with content that varies and is current. Trends change and things are different every day.
2T: So what are some of your favorite hobbies?
A: As sad as this sounds, just writing and playing games. I don’t go out much and I’m not athletic so those two are my mains. But within writing I like writing stories such as fan fiction and just regular fiction.
2T: I see in addition to your blog you have a YouTube channel. Care to explain more about your YouTube channel?
A: Why sure thing! My Youtube channel is called StardewSimming and its where I do Let’s Plays of mainly the Sims 4 with some Stardew Valley in there was well. I also build houses in the Sims 4 and take on some challenges as well. I am looking to get back into Stardew Valley gameplay majorly soon – I just have to figure out scheduling and all that.
2T: I enjoy your videos. Keep doing them. What are your favorite video games to play?
A: Anything that’s more of an RPG – like the Sims and Stardew Valley. But also Pokemon and Smash are my other two favorites.
2T: We should play a game Smash somtime on the Switch. Any upcoming video games that you would like to play?
A: POKEMON. I also really wanna try all the Zelda games coming out soon because I haven’t played a single Zelda game in my life and really wanna try one.
2T: The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is a good one. The remake looks great. What video games did you play growing up?
A: I played a lot of Pokemon growing up. Actually, it was mostly just Pokemon. I’d do Mario Kart and Smash with my brothers a lot too, but Pokemon was the one thing I played just on my own really.
2T: Any video games that have been out that you haven’t had the opportunity of playing yet but would eventually like to play?
A: Zelda and Kingdom Hearts. Breath of the Wild is just to expensive for me and I don’t have a console to play Kingdom Hearts on. But those are definitely high up on my list.
2T: You have an awesome taste in games. Hopefully we can game online very soon. Now for something else!
2T: Favorite drink?
A: Coffee. Always. A medium iced coffee, caramel swirl, with cream and sugar from Dunkin Donuts to be exact.
2T: Coffee! Yuck! LOL! Marvel or DC?
A: Marvel. I admire DC because they have Wonder Woman but Marvel was just my first thing.
2T: Darth Maul or Darth Vader?
A: Vader, obviously. Maul ain’t shit.
2T: Favorite Dessert?
A: I have a massive sweet tooth so I’ll basically eat any dessert that has chocolate on it.
2T: SimCity or Roller Coaster Tycoon?
A: This may come as a shock, but Roller Coaster Tycoon.
2T: I like Roller Coaster Tycoon better also. Favorite Color?
A: Purple
2T: Favorite Amusement Park?
A: Disney!!!
2T: Nintendo or PlayStation?
A: Nintendo
2T: Mario or Sonic?
A: Sonic – I know, shocker. But I remember more vividly playing a Sonic game as a kid, though I can’t remember which game it was.
2T: YouTube or Twitch?
A: YouTube
2T: Vans or Converse?
A: Converse
2T: You gotta show some pics of your kicks on your blog! Tom Brady or Eli Manning?
A: I’m offended you compared the GOAT to a Manning. Always Tom Brady. Brady is always the answer.
2T: Brady is 0-2 against Eli in Super Bowls. Any comments or questions you have for me before I conclude this interview?
