Initial Thoughts: I had been hearing nothing but good things about this game since it has come out. Things such as “it’s retro inspired”. “If you love Castlevania you are gonna love this”. I was a bit hesitant at first but after seeing the price for only $9.99 I figured what did I have to lose. Ok maybe $10 if the game sucks but going back to Castlevania that is one of the best NES games ever made. The fact that this game is inspired by that game it can’t be a bad game right? I had been looking for a good indie game to play and at the perfect price point I thought that this game would be the game to jump right into.

Description: The game is an 8-bit side scrolling platformer. You start as a character named Zangestu and go through levels full of obstacles and various weird looking enemies. Spooky ones! Kind of hard to explain. Once you get through a level you are given another character you can switch off with as you are going through the next levels. The additional characters you get in the game are Miriam, Alfred, and Gebel. They all have unique powers that can help you get through each level and bosses you run into later on in the adventure. This game will definitely put your platformer skills to test in this Castelvania inspired adventure. It’s only 8 stages so it’s not a long game. But the levels do get longer as you get to some of the later ones.

Final Thoughts: I try not to complain too much about difficulty when it comes to a video games. But this is night and day. Hard is very hard and easy is well too easy. When I was playing it on hard I was struggling just to get through the first level. When I was playing on easy I got through the first level with flying colors. I really wish they had made the difficulty somewhere in the middle of the line. Not too easy, not too hard but fair. They didn’t do good job of that. Otherwise it’s a pretty fun game to get into. If you are looking for a good indie game to get into at a cheap price point here’s your game. It’s available on just about every platform there is.

My Score: I give this game a 7.5/10. I don’t think it’s excellent like some people and reviewers were putting it out to be. The night and day difficulty also made me dock a point or 2 off my final score with it also.

Music: The music is great. The beginning music you hear really sets the tone for the game I feel. Here’s a link to a playlist of the OST on YouTube!

Video Gameplay Footage: I’ll do a Twitch stream on this game real soon! I’ll show it off and hopefully you all like it!
