Initial Thoughts: When I went to E3 last year I saw this game and I thought it was a joke. I’ve never been a big fan of Rabbids and combining it with Mario and Friends look like it had disaster written all over it. I walked by Ubisoft’s booth and I just didn’t pay it any thought. I got it as a birthday gift shortly after I got my Nintendo Switch and again it wasn’t on my high priority list of games I wanted to play. I think I played it once and never touched it until shortly after the the Christmas holiday and let me tell you I was WRONG! Never judge a game by it’s cover.
Description: The game has a bit of a weird beginning. Rabbids invade the mushroom kingdom. And when they invade they invade just about everything from the good guys to even the goombas, and bullet bills of the world. All but several of the Rabbids are corrupted and the ones that aren’t corrupted dress up as your favorite Mushroom Kingdom heroes. You are given some awesome weapons and then the fun begins. It’s a strategy game where you hide behind blocks and corners and shoot your opponents with guns, throw bombs at them, dash attack them and so much more. It is addicting once you start getting into it and see how everything works. If you are into turned based RPGs or strategy games this game is right up your alley. You can only use three characters at a time with Mario always being in the party. You start with three characters and as you get more characters you can switch up your party. You also get to level up the characters abilities. Each one has different ones so when you get the purple orb things (or whatever they are called) to upgrade an ability use it wisely. The characters besides Mario include Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Peach, Luigi, Peach, Rabbid Mario, Yoshi, and Yoshi. Donkey Kong is being brought in as DLC which comes out later this year. It’ll be interesting to see how they incorporate him into this game.
Final Thoughts: This game is fantastic. Don’t sleep on it. Once you start playing it’ll be a guarantee you can’t stop. The guns and upgrades are pretty self explanatory along with plenty of secrets for you to discover. It even has a battle mode that you can play with a friend. The only tough thing about it is the deeper in the game you get the more difficult it gets. So hopefully you are prepared for some great strategy game play along with a great challenge.
My Score: I give this game an 8/10.
Video Gameplay Footage: Here is gameplay footage. I get my ass kicked a few times but I fair out in the end. Hope you all enjoy!
