E3 2019 Review

E3-2019-920x518

Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Well another E3 has come and gone and what more can I say? There’s a lot of games to be excited about regardless of what genre you are into. The event had good things and bad things about it. I feel overall it wasn’t the greatest E3 event this year. But I’ll discuss that in an upcoming post. What I want to talk about today is the highlights of the press conferences and what I’m excited about coming out of this event.

I think the easiest way to this is to rank the events. We’ll go from worst to best.

EA (Electronic Arts): Well even though it wasn’t a traditional press conference that we’re used to from EA they did have games to show at their EA Play event. Stars Wars Jedi: Fallen Order looks to be a promising game. Hopefully this can be the game that Star Wars fan have been waiting for. Aside from that I was a bit disappointed from what EA had to bring. They talked about DLC for games that are already out. And the same old sports games that come out every year under their banner. Wish they would’ve brought up something about Anthem. I can understand the reasoning on why they didn’t. Something else that was missing that I felt should’ve talked about was the upcoming Need For Speed game. The last few games in the series haven’t been that great so I’m curious to see how this one would be different from the previous games. We’ll have to wait and see I guess.

Bethesda: I can’t wait for Doom Eternal coming out later this year. The gameplay was amazing and after playing the last one I know it’s just going to be better. As for everything else Bethesda discussed I wasn’t all that interested. Not the biggest Wolfenstein or Elder Scrolls fan. They started out by discussing Fallout 76. I think it’s good that they admit it hasn’t been great but they sticking by it. But then you got a Commander Keen comeback. Really? And what was up with the crowd during the press conference. I think Bethesda paid them. Where do I sign up to be in the audience for E3 2020 Bethesda?

Ubisoft: This press conference was alright. They could’ve did without the orchestra but I know some people like it. The big game coming out from them is Watch Dogs Legion. And to the looks of it, it’s not going to be a GTA V or Saints Row rip off. If you haven’t seen the trailer or presentation for that game I highly recommend you do. Another big game coming out later this year from Ubisoft is Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. The co-op in this game looks great. It’s not at the top of my radar but I’m sure some of you reading this would like. As it may not be a day one pick up for me I would consider getting it later on down the line. Ubisoft also talked about updates to games already out. And then the game that won’t go away Just Dance has another game coming out. And yes it will be on the Wii. Not the Wii U.

Microsoft: Microsoft I thought would’ve knocked their press conference out of the park with Sony not being present there this year. It was a good presentation but I expected better from them. They had Cyberpunk 2077 to show at their press conference. Gameplay looks amazing and Keanu Reeves being there made the press conference that much better. But it’s not an exclusive game to Microsoft. Gears 5 is right around the corner. But what really caught my eye with them was their launch title for the next upcoming console Project Scarlett which is Halo Infinite. I feel there was really nothing bad about their presentation overall but nothing that got me real excited either.

Square Enix: For filling in for Sony this year at the big event I will definitely say they brought it. Final Fantasy VII Remake. Looks like an excellent game. And if it was any video game that deserved a remake it’s this one. It looks to be coming early next year and I’m excited about it. They also had a bunch of smaller titles. Too many to name but they do look good. LOL! The other title I want to discuss is Marvel’s Avengers. Not sure if I will pick it up because of another Marvel game coming out next month. I was a bit surprised we had to wait to for gameplay. I don’t think it will capture the excitement of Marvel’s Spider-Man or Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. But overall Square had a pretty good E3.

Nintendo: They won it. Best presentation I saw all week. I’ll just point out what I’m excited about for Nintendo. Astral Chain looks like it’s going to be a beast. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is looking a lot better than I thought it would be. They definitely went back to their roots with that game. And Banjo-Kazooie is DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I was finally right on one of my predictions. Nintendo I think has the right idea about how to announce games and now you see other companies trying to follow suit. Love them or hate them they are innovative.

Overall this was just an ok E3. And it makes me wonder how much longer this event will last. I’ll get more into that in my next post. In the mean time did you all out there like E3 2019? What upcoming games are you excited about? What company had the best press conference? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time. Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL!
