The Nintendo Switch Turning 2: My Thoughts

Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! So the Nintendo Switch just turned two years old. There has been a lot of good and a bit of bad since the hybrid console has been out two years. I can honestly say that when the console launched I was very skeptical. But after seeing it up close at E3 and in stores such as Target I had to get my hands on one. And I can say it’s been one of my favorite consoles ever. I never imagined buying another Nintendo console again after I didn’t buy a Wii U. Even though I don’t consider myself a Nintendo fanboy anymore I will say that this console is great and I recommend it to ANYONE who plays video games.

So like I was saying there is good and bad with this console. Let’s start with the bad. Below is what I feel is wrong with the Nintendo Switch.

  • The Online Service
  • Lack of retro games (No Virtual Console)
  • voice chat
  • Friend Codes
  • Small buttons on the joy-cons
  • Not the most powerful console
  • Lack of apps (Netflix, VUDU, etc,.)

If you all can think of anymore bad things with the Nintendo Switch please let me know in the comments below. But to add on to what I listed the Online Service I can honestly say is crap. Nintendo has had years to look at what Sony and Microsoft have done and that is the best they can come up with. SMH! It’s 2019. They can do a lot better than what they are doing right now. They need to be giving us free games with the service and more retro games than just NES games. Come on Nintendo! The voice chat is pretty crappy too. Having to use an app on your smartphone to chat with someone online while playing a game. With some games you can use the in game voice chat so that’s good. But if you are going to be using another device to chat with your friends on the Nintendo Switch you may as well use Discord. LOL!

Adding friends is kind of a pain. My friend code is on my about me page and is pinned on my Twitter. You can even add me through Twitter if you are a Twitter user. Come on Nintendo! Aside from that I wish that the buttons on the joy-cons were a bit bigger. I wish with some games it could be as powerful as the PS4 and the Xbox One. And come Nintendo you gotta give us a bit more apps. YouTube and Hulu is a start but come on the people want Netflix as well.

Now that I got the bad out of the way let me talk about the good.

  • The portability
  • The 1st party games
  • Setting the bar for the future of gaming

I feel that the portability of this thing is my number one favorite feature. Being able to take your console on the go wherever you go. Take on a trip. Take to a friends house. Take a to a bbq. Play it on the beach. Whenever, and wherever. Can’t do that with PS4 or Xbox One. Well you can but it’s a whole lot of stuff and not to mention bulky. I also feel that Nintendo is killing it with it’s first party games. So many to choose from in my opinion. Even though I don’t have them all there is something on the list of everyone to get into. Nintendo is still great when it comes to making first party content. And I don’t believe that is slowing down anytime soon. And one can only imagine what their next console will be. I know right now it is too soon to tell but if it doesn’t have the features that is has now and then some they will be taking steps back. Another thing that I feel is great about the Switch is the 3rd party support. This is the most I’ve seen for 3rd party support with any Nintendo console since the SNES. So keep it up Nintendo!

So the Nintendo Switch (even though it has its flaws) exceeded expectations and is only going to get better as the years go by. Switch owners! What are your thoughts on the Switch? Let me know the good and the bad in the comments below. Until next time! Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Remember that TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE! Thanks for reading folks. Keep coming back for more great content.

  1. It’s been 2 years for our favorite hybrid gaming system.

The same goes for 2017’s game of the year “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”.

I know it’s been declared dead by Nintendo but I just wish that the Switch gets to have a Virtual Console capable of transferring games from Wii U or 3DS.

I’m aware that the Nintendo Online games have something like this.

However, the library isn’t really big.

Plus, as of the moment, it’s only NES and possibly SNES games.

And I absolutely agree with you. I fell for its portability as well.
