Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Today I got another interview for you guys! KT from Wintendo 64. If you haven’t checked her blog out you really need to do so. She’s into video games, and if you are looking to get into cosplay she is definitely your girl. I had a lot of fun putting this interview together. So definitely read below and I’ll be back at the end to wrap things up.
2TALL: Wintendo 64? First let’s talk about how you came up with that name. I know there is a story behind it. Share it with us.
KT: I’m a big fan of puns and I grew up with a Nintendo 64. So in 2015 when I started my cosplay Instagram account I needed a username and that’s what I came up with. I’ve thought about changing it, most cosplayers seem to actually have “cosplay” in their name. But it’s been around for so long now people have started calling me wintendo or win at conventions. I think I’ll just stick with it.
2T: Cool story! When did you start blogging? And how long has your blog been around?
KT: I started blogging in October of 2017, so it’s been around for 15 months? I’m not as active as I’d like to be, I’m so busy with school and work and actually trying to cosplay. I really would love to be active again though!
2T: I have to say one of the hardest things about blogging is finding the time. What enjoyment do you get out of blogging?
KT: I love the freedom I guess you could call it? I started blogging because I wanted to write tutorials. Instagram and Facebook make it a bit difficult to write long and non confusing posts; starting a blog seemed like the best option.
2T: Blogs are great for tutorials. What blogs out there do you enjoy reading?
KT: Kamui Cosplay is definitely up there. She’s been my cosplay icon since I started. I also love reading Normal Happenings, A Geeky Gal, the London Geek, Gini Di, and your blog!
2T: Normal Happenings and A Geeky Gal are some of my favorite bloggers I like to read. And I’m glad you enjoy my content. What do you recommend to people that have recently started a blog or are thinking about starting a blog?
KT: Don’t worry about a schedule or the “rules” for blogging. Blog for yourself and do what works best for you. If you don’t crank out posts every week that’s okay. If you don’t have an email list that’s okay. If you post outside your niche that’s okay. When I first started blogging I read so many tutorials and “how to” posts, they were helpful, but I felt so overwhelmed. Blogging is really just about you. Don’t feel like you have to follow a certain formula or copy the same things as “successful” bloggers. Be unique and just have fun.
2T: That is some of the best advice I’ve heard from a fellow blogger on blogging. So how long have you been doing cosplay?
KT: I’ve been cosplaying since 2013. I was reading Nintendo Power magazine, in the back they always dedicated a few pages to fan tributes, and in this one there was this amazing cosplay of Zelda from Skyward Sword. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to try and replicate it. And now here we are in 2019 and I’m still stuck doing Zelda cosplays!
2T: Name me some characters you have dressed up as? Which ones are your favorites?
KT: Some more recent costumes I’ve made are Mercy, Witch Mercy, and Odette Widowmaker- They’re all characters from Overwatch, Yennefer from the Witcher III, Auriel from Diablo III, Sakura from Naruto, and Barbarian Link from Breath of the Wild. It’s so hard to narrow down my favorites! I love all the ones I’ve done! I always learn something new and each one is such a unique and fun experience. I’ll go with Auriel, Odette Widowmaker, and Barbarian Link. They were the most challenging, completing them was such an accomplishment. Each of these was such a different build and required a lot of new learning. Auriel was my first armor build, Widowmaker was my first time making an entire pattern by myself, and Link was the first costume that required a lot of big, detailed props.
2T: What do you like most about cosplay?
KT: I love the people. It’s true, the cosplay community can be very toxic and competitive, but there’s also so many amazing people that make it all worth it. At conventions, when things start falling apart, I guarantee another cosplayer will lend some spare duct tape or glue to help fix any malfunctioning costume, regardless if they know each other. Also the support online, people that live in different countries but support each other as good as any irl friend. Even during competitions; my best cosplay friends I’ve met while competing. There’s this sense of comradery among cosplayers, it truly is a unique and amazing experience.
2T: That is totally awesome. What are some of your favorite games from the N64?
KT: Majora’s Mask. It’s so unlike any other Zelda game and it had so many sidequests, I can’t wait to replay it on the 3DS! I also love a game called Jet Force Gemini. It’s a co op game I used to play a lot with my siblings growing up. And who can forget Mario Party 2? Even after playing the one released for the switch, I still think Mario Party 2 is the best Mario Party!
2T: Mario Party 2 is the one of the best in series in my opinion. Do you think Nintendo will put out an N64 Classic?
KT: Oh absolutely. The NES and SNES classic have been so successful so why wouldn’t they?
2T: I know it would make a lot of fans happy. What are some games you are currently playing?
KT: Currently I’m still playing Overwatch, it really owns my soul. I’m also playing Diablo III on the Switch, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Ocarina of Time for the 3DS.
2T: What games are you looking forward to in 2019?
KT: METROID PRIME 4 PLEASSSEEE also the next Elder Scrolls game
2T: Metroid Prime 4 you may have to wait a bit longer. There’s been a delay. Time to shake it up now!
2T: Twitter or Instagram?
KT: Instagram for sure! Probably because I’ve had it for a much longer time and know how to use it a lot better.
2T: Sprite or Sierra Mist?
KT: Sprite all the wayyyy
2T: That’s what I’m talking about. Mario or Sonic?
KT: Mario!
2T: Mac or PC?
KT: Oh Lord PC forever
2T: You and me both. Favorite music?
KT: Cavetown! I listen to a lot of music and my favorites tend to shift all over the place. But I’ve had Cavetown on way too much recently.
2T: Favorite cartoon show?
KT: Does Castlevania count as a cartoon show? Otherwise I’m loving the She Ra reboot! I just finished a fem Trevor Belmont cosplay and would love to do a She Ra cosplay if I find the time.
2T: They rebooted She Ra? I’m behind! LOL! Favorite place to shop?
KT: Box Lunch! I love all their nerdy and practical merch, and I love that they run a charity too! My favorite online shop is TNT Cosplay Supply, they have the best materials for all my projects and honestly their prices are too good to be true.
2T: Favorite shape?
KT: The triangle, because that’s how you make the triforce lol
2T: Good explanation! LOL! Favorite food?
KT: Orange chicken for sure. There’s a Panda Express on my college campus and Lord knows I spend way too much money there.
2T: Guilty pleasure?
KT: “I want it that way” by the Backstreet Boys
2T: Well we all have them. Fruit Loops or Corn Pops?
KT: Lol so funny story, my battle tag for Overwatch is actually FruityLoop so I gotta go with that.
2T: Favorite video game controller?
KT: Does a mouse and keyboard count? No? I’ll go with the Joycon controller for the Switch because it’s so unique.
2T: I wish the buttons were bigger on the joy-cons. Anything you would like to ask me or say to the readers before I conclude this interview?
KT: Yes! Will you ever cosplay?? If you could choose any character who would you choose? (Money/time/complexity don’t factor)
Thank you so much for this opportunity!
2T: Cosplay is not in the near future for me but never say never. But I do enjoy when I go to conventions and see cosplayers all decked out. If I could do it I would dress up as my favorite cartoon character of my favorite cartoon show Inspector Gadget.
Below are some photos of KT.
