NES and SNES Classics! A great gift idea!

nes and snes classic

Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! About a week ago I put out a post with some great gift ideas for some video games. If you haven’t read it yet go ahead and check it out here. Two items I feel I forgot to mention in that post is the NES and SNES Classics. If you know someone who wants to get their retro fix, or if you have been thinking about picking one of these up for yourself you may need to act sooner rather than later. According to this interview Nintendo of America COO Reggie Fils-Aimé  says that once this batch that is out for the holidays is sold out they will be discontinued. So act now if you want to get one of these while supplies last.

I find this kind of weird since both of these mini consoles are doing so well. But one thing I’ve learned with Nintendo is never say never and that anything is possible. They could be ramping up for an N64 Classic or they could be ready to have SNES and N64 classic games on the Nintendo Switch. If that is their plan they need to announce something soon with regards to that. I think Nintendo would just make everyone happy by bringing back the Virtual Console! Oh well!

Anyway I’ve been in stores such as Target and GameStop. They have plenty of these in stock. So if you want an NES or SNES Classic you can have one. The NES Classic comes fully loaded with 30 games and only one controller for $59.99. An additional controller can be purchased for $9.99. It includes classic games such as Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong and Mega Man 2. The SNES Classic comes fully loaded with 21 games and it comes with two controllers for only $79.99. It includes classics such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart, Star Fox, and the unreleased Star Fox 2. Just by reading some of the games on each of these consoles you know it’s a great gift idea! Right? The controllers aren’t very long but you can buy extension cords for them. If you want to go the wireless route you can do that as well. 8BitDo has some great options for each of these consoles. I’ll leave Amazon Affiliate links at the end of this post.

Now I know some of you are saying “I can just emulate these games” or “why don’t you just put together a RetroPie”. I know that these games are easy to emulate but it’s Nintendo. It’s so awesome that I can play Super Mario World on original Nintendo hardware in 2018 without having to use a CRT TV. And if you want to play all the games in each of these consoles libraries you can just go ahead and add your own games to it by hacking it. It’s yours if you buy it so feel free to hack it. Just hack it at your own risk but I haven’t heard of any consoles being bricked. And if it makes you feel any better I have hacked mine. It’s pretty simple to do. If anyone is interested I can link you to one of my favorite YouTubers videos showing you how to do.

So hopefully I gave you shoppers some more great gift ideas on what to buy loved ones for the holidays. Are you going to be picking either of these consoles up while supplies last? Do you already own one or the other? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Remember that TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE! Thanks for reading! And soon you’ll be playing with POWER….. or SUPER POWER!
