Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! So I want to know! I’ve been thinking about this since the last Nintendo Direct that was exclusive to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. What I want to know is do you feel this game being OVERHYPED? I’m excited about it, I can’t wait for it, I have it pre-ordered but I feel they are going too in depth about what you can do in this game. It’s kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Let’s get into it.
Now many people criticized Nintendo’s E3 presentation because it dedicated too much time to the game. If you remember it they hardly talked about anything else. I personally didn’t think much of it at first, but now looking back on it they didn’t have to go as deep as they did. I know Nintendo is banking on this game moving Switch units (and it will) but I think it took a bit too much time at E3 and since then they’ve already told us too much. I mean every character is coming back (and some new ones), you can play in just about every course that was ever in the series, and you don’t even have to unlock those course. They are also hinting about how many characters you’ll have to start with. It could be everyone or the original 12 that was in the N64 game. I want to have that excitement when the game comes out but now part of me is getting to the point where I won’t feel excited when I get my hands on the game. Sure I’ll have some fun whooping some ass on my friends but that element of surprise of the game I feel may just be gone.
Now since Super Smash Bros. Melee I haven’t really been the biggest fan of the series. Brawl I thought was mediocre, and since I didn’t have a Wii U I didn’t really play that one all that much. It is a good game don’t get me wrong but not good enough to make me go out and buy a Wii U. I have the 3DS one but I feel that it is nothing special. With them putting just about everything in this game I feel this has to be the last one in the series. Maybe they’ll do updates on Nintendo next gen hardware but nothing that would warrant a big overhaul. But they are doing it big for this game and it better deliver come December if the entire fan base isn’t sick of hearing about it.
IGN I feel sure hasn’t helped since they put out gameplay videos with the game every week. They show either a course or how to use a certain character. I feel if you are watching that you must have nothing better to do with your time. I mean the game isn’t coming out until December. Be surprised a little bit. Just watch the 20 minute Nintendo Directs they put out for it every other month until the release date. That’s enough to hold me over. But do they even have to do that. At this rate I feel they are just teasing us and that is not right. If you are going to keep telling us what’s in the game and not let us be surprised just put out one long video and be done with it. I mean I’m still getting the game but I feel Nintendo is neglecting some of it’s other games to just talk about this one. They haven’t even talked much about their online service and that launches next month. Come on Nintendo talk about something else.
Anyway this is how I feel about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I have it pre-ordered but I feel Nintendo is overhyping just a bit. How do you feel about it? Is Nintendo overhyping this game? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time! Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Remember that TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE! Thanks for reading folks. Game on gamerz!
Excellent article! I think game coverage as a whole has gone too far in the direction of revealing everything before launch. Pokemon is particularly notorious for this. It’d be nice to have more elements of the games kept quiet until we get to experience it for ourselves.
In defense of E3, I will say that this has been Nintendo’s strategy for the past three years. In 2016 it was Breath of the Wild, in 2017 Mario Odyssey, now Smash in 2018 – I don’t necessarily AGREE with their strategy of only really focusing on one game each year, but it’s not new ground they’re breaking with their Smash Bros coverage. I’m expecting 2019 to be too in-depth about Metroid Prime!
