I was net surfing one morning and I was on 8Bitdo’s Twitter page and once again they are doing amazing things! 8Bitdo for those of you who don’t know are a company that put out retro theme Bluetooth controllers and other wireless accessories. They are now selling do it yourself modkits that can convert your old NES, SNES or even Genesis/Megadrive controllers into bluetooth controllers. They even have modkits for the wired controllers that come with the NES Classic and SNES Classic. With me being a big fan of 8Bitdo and a lot of retro gamers who read this blog this is something I felt I needed to share with you guys.
One of my biggest pet peeves these days when it comes to video games is having to use wired controllers. Especially when Nintendo put out the NES and SNES Classic Editions and made the controllers wired! WHY NINTENDO! The main thing with wired controllers is they are never long enough and like back in the day they still get tangled up easily. Since Bluetooth controllers have been a thing I love to use controllers WIRELESS. No cords! And I feel you should to. Whether you are a current gamer or retro gamer. You should not have your controller plugged in for anything (unless you are charging it).
Now I understand there are other options from 8Bitdo out there but if you don’t want that many controllers laying around and are pretty handy why don’t you give this thing a shot. They are only going for $19.99. I’ll leave links at the end of this post. Here’s a video below on how it is done.
Anyway I just wanted to share this with you guys. I think I may give it a try with my NES or SNES Classic Controllers. I know I’m going to be making those controllers wireless some how and now this gives me another option. (Thanks a lot 8Bitdo). Do you want your old school controllers to be wireless?
