Retro-bit at CES 2018

Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL. I got some great news for you retro gamers out there. So CES (Consumers Electronics Show) 2018 happened last week and one of the companies there showing off their products was Retro-bit. One of the  products that they have come out with in the last month is the Super Retro-Cade Plug and Play Console. They had quite a bit of products at this year’s show but there are a couple products I want to discuss a little further.

The first product is the Super Retro Trio Plus. This console can play NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis/Megadrive cartridges. It uses an HDMI port and displays games at a 720p resolution making it easy to play older games on current generation TVs. A good alternative as opposed to going out and looking for an old CRT TV. This product will be available by the end of the month for a retail price of $80. You can either use your old controllers to play as they do have ports for them, or you can use a pair of Retro-bit controllers that come with the unit. And you can also play all games regardless regardless of region as it has a NTSC and PAL switch.

The second list of products I want to discuss are new Sega controllers. Wired and wireless Sega controllers for the Genesis/Megadrive, Saturn, and Dreamcast. Last month Retro-bit and Sega announced a partnership and Retro-bit would be putting out accessories for Sega’s old consoles. So from the pictures I saw looks like they have wireless controllers with dongles, and usb wired controllers which you can plug into a dongle but are also compatible with windows, mac, and android. Take a look at some of the pictures below.

Many people believe that with this new partnership that Retro-bit will put out mini versions of these old consoles. If they do hopefully they use wireless controllers. But it would be incredible. The Genesis not so much since it’s been done 100 times already by other 3rd party companies. The latest one being the Sega Genesis Flashback HD 2017 Console by AtGames. But for the Saturn and the Dreamcast that would be something to get excited about. Nothing has been announced but with the company putting out wireless controllers for Sega’s old consoles you have to think perhaps something much bigger may be on the horizon. The retro gaming scene seems to be at an all time high right now with Nintendo putting out the NES/SNES Classic Editions so you have to think that if Retro-bit and Sega come together and put mini’s of these old consoles that consumers would jump on it. Only time will tell if they decide to do it however. But what do you guys think. Do you want to see Sega put out mini versions of their old consoles. Let me know in the comments below.
