Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Now as many of you know my real name is Justin Reed. But on this blog I go by TWOTALL4UFOOL (even though many of you call me Justin in the comments, Twitter, Discord, etc,). But since I’ve been doing the blogging thing for a year now I figure I should tell you all where my gamertag/alias/stage name or whatever you want to call it comes from. I told myself if I could keep this blog up for at least a year I would share the story. I didn’t want it to be one of my first blog posts from last year and I didn’t really want to put it on my About Me page. This is a story I feel deserves its own post. A few have been asking and I’m sure a lot of you have been wondering so today I share the story of how ‘TWOTALL4UFOOL’ was created.
It’s a unique story because I created the name in two parts. So it’s two stories. We’ll start with part one. As many of you know I grew up in Southern California. In the mid 90’s when I was in the 5th Grade I along with the rest of my class took part in a program called D.A.R.E. which is an acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. I’m sure many of you are familiar with it. It’s still around today. Check out their website for those of you that are interested in learning more about it and perhaps buying some of their merchandise. Anyway we were in D.A.R.E. class one day and we were doing an activity that included California license plates. The D.A.R.E. Officer wanted to come up with 7 characters that best described us. For those of you that don’t know California license plates typically come in 7 characters. So the D.A.R.E. Officer gave an example. He did 2FAST4U since he said he was fast growing up. So I thought about mine. And since I was the tallest kid in the school I decided to replace fast with tall when creating mine so then that’s how 2TALL4U was born. And it kind of had a nice ring to it but at the time I didn’t think much of it at the time.
So a few years later when AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) got real popular I wanted to come up with a cool screen name. I flirted with some other ideas but then I kept coming back to 2TALL4U. So I figured I had to make it unique. If you remember correctly when creating a screen name back then numbers couldn’t be your first character. So I solved this by spelling out 2 to TWO. That’s why it’s TWO and not TOO. Does that make sense? So now I was TWOTALL4U.
But when entering that of course that was already taken. So then I had to get real creative. Should I add more to it? Or should I add some number like the year I was born and be done with it? After thinking about it I just put FOOL at the end of it. Why did I choose FOOL? Because at the end of the day everyone is a ‘FOOL’. LOL! And it sounded a bit cooler than PUNK which was my second choice. So now I was TWOTALL4UFOOL and I’ve run with it ever sense.
It eventually followed me into the world of gaming when I got my PS3 and needed to come up with a PSN ID. So I figured that would be the perfect choice. And some years later it has now followed me into the world of blogging. I do find it so creative and it shows my creativity since I came up with it all by myself! LOL!
So that’s my story behind TWOTALL4UFOOL. I feel like it’s a pretty unique story when I look back on it. And I’m sure when I look at other usernames some are just plain and others probably do have story behind it like mine. Hopefully you all enjoyed that and it all makes more sense to you now. How about you? Does your gamertag/nickname/alias have a story behind it as interesting as mine? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time! Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Remember that TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE! Thanks for reading folks.
As interesting? No. But being as my sign on name confuses people all the time, I’ll share what it is and how I came about it.
I’m a big hockey fan and in 1992 Disney released The Mighty Ducks. As I was 14 at the time and playing club sports on a lot of teams of misfits, the movie resonated with me. In the 1993-1994 season the NHL introduced the Disney owned Mighty Ducks, whom I adopted as my Western Conference team (I’m a Flyers fan first and foremost) and in the draft of 1994 they selected Paul Kariya, whom many were saying was the best pure passer since Wayne Gretzky. A few years passed and Kariya became my favorite player not named Eric Lindros or Wayne Gretzky and by the time I was done high school my family had bought a modern Windows PC.
At this point, along with some friends, we signed up for Juno email accounts and everyone was picking some goofy stuff like RabidWombat or MoldyCrow and I decided to blend one of my favorite players and his number in to create my address. So Kariya and the number 9. But Kariya9 was a bit short and very on the nose, so I spelled out nine and made it Kariyanine. I’ve had it ever since and use it on almost everything. Most times people will mistake me for a girl and think it is Kari Annie but I have had some randoms understand it up front.
Anyway, that’s my screen name now and I don’t think I’d feel right using anything else at this point.

The good ol Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. I miss the logo and colors. Those old jerseys were sweet. Nice story.

Great post Justin! It was interesting to learn more about how you came up with that name. I definitely remember the days of D.A.R.E. and AOL instant messenger. Takes us back a few years though.

Who would’ve ever thought that D.A.R.E. and AOL Instant Messenger would be the two sources where TWOTALL4UFOOL came from? Well I guess only a FOOL could come up with that at the end of the day LOL!

Ahh I remember the fun of having to try and find a non-taken handle on AOL Messenger. Thanks for sharing your story on how you came up with it 🙂

My favorite part of this story is that you clarified why it’s “Two” and not “Too” hahaha. I love that you’ve had this since middle school!

Yeah there’s a story behind the name. It wasn’t just something random I made up. Thanks for reading.
