Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! So the holidays are here and what’s the best way to get into the holiday spirit? Watching a holiday movie of course. And I have a list of them that I’m sure you all love. So for this post I’m going to list my top 5 Christmas/holiday movies. Aside from my top 5 I’ll list some honorable mentions at the end of this post. So without a further ado let’s get into this.
#5: A Christmas Story: This movie is always on TBS and TNT at the top of every hour between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It gave me something to watch when I was younger and no other Christmas specials were on. I thought this movie was rather boring at first but over the years it has definitely grown on me. My favorite part of the movie had to be the end. It was also the funniest part of the movie too if you ask. (I don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t seen.) So definitely check this movie out if you get a chance this holiday because it is guaranteed to be on TBS and TNT for 24 hours straight at the top of every hour.
#4: The Muppet Christmas Carol: It seems like A Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol has been redone about 1 million times. I think this movie did it the best. One of the things it used was having Muppets. You can’t beat that. I remember going to movies to see this as a kid and I was so excited. I don’t see as much as I should these days but if I ever decide to start collecting a bunch of holiday movies this movie for sure would be on my list. I know this movie may get hate from some but I feel it is a decent Christmas movie. If you have kids that have never seen this or if you haven’t seen this you should definitely check it out.
#3: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation: This is definitely the funniest Christmas movie I’ve ever seen. The Vacation movies are funny enough and now with a Christmas twist it makes for even more laughs. Chevy Chase kills it in this movie as he does all the other Vacation movies. In my opinion this is definitely a Christmas movie I feel you can gather around the entire family and watch. If you watch any of the Vacation films it is nothing but guaranteed laughs. So comedy and Christmas is an excellent mix if you ask.
#2: Home Alone 2: Lost In New York: The first Home Alone movie was awesome. But this Home Alone movie was even more awesome. This is one of several Christmas movies I owned as a kid. I would watch it pretty much any time. Whether it was Christmas or if it was summer and I was looking for a good laugh. I think what makes this movie better than the first is that it pushed the envelope even further and wasn’t the exact same thing as the first. Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern were excellent in this film as well the first film. Wow speaking of Macaulay Culkin I just came up with an idea for a ‘Do You Remember?’ blog. Maybe I’ll do it next month. If you haven’t seen this movie you are definitely missing out! Do yourself a favor and check it out!
#1: Die Hard: Now I know what some of you are saying to yourselves! This isn’t a Christmas movie 2TALL! Well let me correct you guys. YES IT IS! It is Christmas time. John McClane is in L.A. to see his family. When the terrorists crash the party it is a Christmas party. And when the credits start rolling “Let It Snow” starts playing. So enough said. It’s a Christmas movie so live with it. Not only is it the greatest Christmas movie ever it’s the GREATEST movie ever! If you haven’t seen Die Hard you need to see it. Bruce Willis does a great job as John McClane. Check out the four sequels to this one as well. My wife, daughter and I watch this holiday classic every holiday season.
Honorable Mentions: Home Alone, Bad Santa, Jack Frost, The Preacher’s Wife, This Christmas, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and Die Hard 2: Die Harder
