Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! So early this year we saw Toys “R” Us close all of its stores in the US. But according to an article from Comic Book their investors are going relaunch the brand as a store called Geoffrey’s Toy Box. I may be a bit late on this story but I still want to give my thoughts. Just when I thought my former employer was gone forever it comes back. Believe it or not I feel that this could be good and bad. I’ll explain further.
Last month it was my daughter’s birthday. I’m not sure if any of you guys watch the channel Disney Jr. but they rebooted yet another show. The Muppet Babies. What will they reboot next? Anyway my daughter loves that show. So my wife and I decided to get her toys from that show. They sell them exclusively at Target but I had to go to several different Target stores before finding them. As I’m walking through the toy section looking for these toys I’m just thinking to myself I really miss Toys “R” Us right about now. Never thought I would admit it but I was missing them. Because I knew if they were still in business I would’ve found those toys no problem. And that’s what people miss about Toys “R” Us. Those hard to find toys. Those toys you couldn’t find anywhere else. That’s why people shopped at this toy store. I mean Target and Walmart have cheaper prices but their toy departments can’t compare to what they had in Toys “R” US store.
So then I hear about Geoffrey’s Toy Box. So I guess that the investors really wanted to reboot Toys “R” Us. I think that this could be good if they play their cards right. I hear that they plan on starting as a store within a store beginning in November. It would be funny if they were located inside of Walmart or Target. LOL! I see probably department stores such as JCPenney or Macy’s. We’ll have to wait and see. I’m just curious to see what they’ll have for sell and the prices. It’s all going to come down to prices. If they are selling Hot Wheel packs that you can get cheaper at Target, Walmart or even Amazon they ain’t going to make it. That’s how they got into the situation they are in to begin with.
I also feel that kids should have a go to store. And Toys “R” Us was that store for a lot of kids. Now with this new brand being launched the kids of today now have an all exclusive toy store….. again. They are obviously not going out without a fight. But hopefully they are better managed under this reign. We’ll have to wait and see. The only bad I can see happening from this is if they go out of business….. again. But I’m glad to see them making a comeback. Even though I still feel they were a shitty employer. LOL!
