Why won’t Nintendo just end the 3DS?

mario & luigi bowser's inside story

Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! So Nintendo had it’s Nintendo Direct last week. Click here and check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. There were a lot of games that I and I’m sure the many of you reading this are very hyped about. One of these games I want to talk about very briefly is Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s  Inside Story + Bowser’s Jr. Journey. It looks amazing and I really want to get my hands on it. Especially the Bowser’s Jr. Journey portion of the game. The fact that you can play as him and the Koopalings I think is going to be an amazing experience for the one that is playing the game. But there’s only one problem with this game. It’s on the Nintendo 3DS. And even though I have a 3DS (well 2DS XL) I just think to myself can’t Nintendo just kill this thing off already?

Why is Nintendo still producing games for the Nintendo 3DS? Can’t they just stop production for it and release the Switch Mini? LOL! I’m just going to be honest with you guys. I really don’t think that this thing has much time left on the market. I can’t think of what will be its successor. I really can’t. Nintendo is the ultimate king of handheld gaming and I think the thing that should be next is a Switch Mini or something along those lines. The Nintendo 3DS has been on the market since 2011. It’s had many different variations since being out. Me personally I’ve had the 3DS XL and I recently traded that in for the New 2DS XL. I wasn’t using the 3D features on my original unit and I figured later on down the line I would probably end up giving the thing to my daughter. There are many great titles for this handheld but I feel it’s gotten to the point where they need to just stop putting games out for this thing. Especially if half the games they are putting out are just remasters and remakes. I may sound like a hater but if you are a Switch owner out there and have a 3DS how often do you really play it? Really think about this?

I feel that overall the 3DS will be Nintendo’s last exclusive handheld. I can’t see them making another all handheld device. Especially now that they’ve come out with the Switch. The first hybrid console you can take on the go with you just like a 3DS or any other handheld Nintendo has ever come out with. And if they do make another handheld. LOL! Well it’s Nintendo. And they are full of surprises whether we like them or hate them. So as for the Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser’s Jr. Journey I can’t say that I will get the game since it will just add to my backlog of games and collect dust along with my 2DS XL.

So for those of you reading out there that have one. I want to know. Do you have a 3DS or 2DS that you play as your primary handheld? Do you feel that Nintendo should finally end the 3DS? Let me know in the comments below. Once again I hate to sound like a hater but it’s time to move on from the 3DS Nintendo. Until next time! Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Remember that TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE! Thanks for reading folks. Game on gamerz!

      1. One bit of speculation I have heard is that Nintendo’s next move is to have a cheaper SKU for the Switch so that players will have multiple Switches per household. I guess so they can do more Switch-to-Switch functionality like in Super Mario Party? Either way, it’s gonna be really interesting to see where Nintendo ultimately falls on whether or not they continue an independent handheld line.

  1. I have a 3ds. The just picked it up 2 weeks ago after not playing for for 2 years to play Ace Attorney. I doubt there will be a Switch Mini. The rumor is they’re working on a more powerful version of the Switch.

  2. I never had a 3DS but i loved my DS. I feel like handheld gaming devices are dying because we can get so many games on our phones, it makes me a little sad.
