Nintendo not having Cloud Save Back Ups for all Games! Why?

Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! I was going to skip this story but it’s gaining a lot of attention so I figured I would share my thoughts! It has to do with Nintendo’s Online Service. It’s coming out later this month. However when it comes to their feature of Save Data Cloud backups it wont’ be available for all their games unfortunately. Huh? These games include Splatoon 2, Dead Cells, Dark Souls Remastered, FIFA 19, NBA 2K19, and the upcoming Pokemon games Let’s Go Pikachu, and Let’s Go Eevee. I’m a little confused and was just going to let this go until I heard the reason. A very silly and stupid reason if you ask me. Here’s a quote that Nintendo put out when Game Informer reached out to them.

“”The vast majority of Nintendo Switch games will support Save Data Cloud backup. However, in certain games this feature would make it possible to, for example, regain items that had been traded to other players, or revert to a higher online multiplayer ranking that had been lost. To ensure fair play, Save Data Cloud backup may not be enabled for such games. To ensure that Save Data Cloud backups cannot be used to unfairly affect online multiplayer rankings, the feature will not be enabled in Splatoon 2.”

If you want to read that article here’s a link to it! So not only does Nintendo think you can do this type of thing in Splatoon 2 but also the other games I mentioned up above. Most of the games mentioned are third party games. On the Sony and Microsoft consoles these games have cloud saving features. So why can’t Nintendo have it for these games? I can kind of understand them doing this with their first party IP’s but when it comes to the third party games there’s NO EXCUSES! And this is a horrible excuse on Nintendo’s part. This is a perfect example of them not wanting to get with the times and when they try to they do it half ass.

I can’t defend them on this. This is kind of hilarious if you ask me. They don’t want to enable certain games with Save Data Cloud backups because of the cheaters out there. They are afraid of a few cheaters? Microsoft and Sony have been doing this for how many years now? What do they do? Ban the cheaters. But Nintendo doesn’t want to put down the hammer and ban people when it comes to cheating? They would rather just not have the feature in the certain games that you can gain an upper edge in. Come on Nintendo! You ban people when they hack their Switch. What a joke? And anyone who does agree with this you are too much of a Nintendo superfan (fanboy or fangirl). I’m a fan. I was a fanboy of Nintendo back in the 90’s but these day NOPE! I’m a Switch owner but I will call them out when they are doing something stupid. And this is something that they are doing that is stupid. What year is this? There is no excuse why it has taken so long for them to implement Save Data Cloud backups this long for the Switch and when they finally are about to put it out it’s not available for all the games. This is just kind of hard to swallow! LOL!

So for the first party IP’s I guess you kind of have no choice. But what about the third party games for the Switch? Are you going to be picking up any of these games even though it won’t use the Save Data Cloud backup? What do you think of Nintendo doing this? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time! Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! Remember that TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE! Thanks for reading folks. Game on gamerz!

  1. I remember when Nintendo used to be the technology leader when it came to console gaming. NES, snes, n64, and maybe Gamecube had some of the best graphics and computing power of their respective generation.
Nintendo has been in the console market longer than Sony and Microsoft, but somehow they keep ending up at least generation behind. Online saves are some PlayStation and Xbox have been doing since last generation (PS3 era). Sony and Microsoft make it work with no problem. Sure they have cheating, but it’s nothing to do with online saves.
