E3 2018 Final Thoughts!

e3

Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! E3 has come and gone and even though I didn’t go this year I was told by some friends I missed out on a great event along with some great after parties. I’m totally going to go back next year, whether I can get in for free or if I have to pay the $250. I do have some final thoughts on each of the press conferences I saw. At the end of this post I’ll determine who the “winner” is and in a future post I will come out for a list games to look out for this fall. So let’s talk about it.

Sony: I feel like they had a strong presentation like they do every year. We finally got to see some gameplay footage for Spider-Man which is going to be a day one pick up for me. The Last Of Us Part II looked amazing. Makes me want to play the first one now. Death Stranding is looking real good. We finally saw some gameplay on that. But one game that really got my attention with Sony was Ghost of Tsushima. That game looks amazing. Oh and the Resident Evil 2 remake looks great also. I feel that Sony does have the best first party content of games that is coming out. Way to go Sony!

Nintendo: I feel Nintendo had a good E3 presentation also. I like how they do their presentations in the form of a Nintendo Direct. I know a lot of people weren’t happy that it was Super Smash Bros. Ultimate heavy but this game is going to be one of the top selling games for the year I feel. It’s going to move a lot more Switch units and a lot of fans have been waiting for it. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! is also going to move a lot of Switch units in my opinion. Especially in Japan. Super Mario Party looks cool now that you can do online play. And Starlink: Battle For Atlas with the Star Fox exclusive was a big surprise for a lot of fans. But there was no mention of Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, or this upcoming Yoshi game at the show. The Yoshi game is suppose to release sometime this year but my guess is it’s getting pushed back.

Microsoft: I feel Microsoft had to knock it out of the park this year and I feel it didn’t. Some may argue that they did but I feel they just did what they had to do to stay a float. Sure we are getting a new Gears or War, and Halo games but I feel it is very weak in terms of 1st party IPs. Sea Of Thieves, and State Of Decay 2 didn’t do very hot and Crackdown 3 was delayed once again. I was hoping that it would come out of the gates strong but in my opinion it just didn’t do that. Forza Horizon 4 looks very sweet and if I had an Xbox One I would go out and by that game but that’s not going to make me want to go out and buy an Xbox One. I’m just being honest.

Square Enix: Oh my god. Kingdom Hearts 3 really stole the show in my opinion. If you love some of the recent Disney movies that have come out you’ll love this game. Check out this trailer for it. Oh and you won’t have to wait long. It should be in stores come January. The Shadow of Tomb Raider’s gameplay footage looked really good also. But where the hell was the Final Fantasy VII remake? I’m sure that not coming to the party left a sour taste in a lot of fans mouths.

Ubisoft: I feel like they had an average press conference. It was bad but at the same time it wasn’t great. Starlink: Battle For Atlas looks to be a good game regardless of what platform you want to to get it on. Another highlight for them had to be The Division 2. I know a lot of fans are going to pick that game up. If you love pirates Skull & Bones looks to fill in the void if you want to play a good pirate game. Looks a lot better than Sea Of Thieves. And Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? I thought they were done with putting out Assassin’s Creed games every year but it looks like they are back at it. And another thing why are they still putting out DLC for For Honor. That game lost a lot of players with the many bumps it had in the beginning. Myself included. They seemed to have fixed them but they aren’t getting me back. It would have to be a free download for me to go back to playing that game.

Bethesda: I wasn’t really interested too much in what Bethesda presented but if you are a Fallout fan then I’m sure you are pumped for Fallout 76. I’m not a big fan of the Fallout series but the game is coming out this fall.

EA: The worse presentation in my opinion. They spent the longest time talking about some mobile game I’m sure nobody gave a damn about. Command & Conquer: Rivals? Seriously EA? What a joke? I don’t understand why they would dedicate so much time to a mobile game. This is E3. I’m sure the people watching don’t want to hear crap about some dumb old mobile game. They didn’t even give some of their other franchises the light of day. Otherwise Battlefield 5 confirmed it would have “royale”. And we saw some Anthem footage. I’m not very sold on Anthem but I’m sure some of the fans out there are pumped about it. But I feel like it’s not going to be a Halo or Destiny killer.

Another company I want to mention real quick is 8Bitdo. They were at the event this year and they announced a line of new controllers they got coming soon. Check them out whenever you get a chance. They need to put out a GameCube controller in time for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Maybe next year!

So who was the overall winner may you ask? We the gamers are the winners. There are so many great games coming out this holiday season and beyond. Regardless of whatever genre you like I’m sure you will be able to find something that will fit your gaming needs in the months to come. I know it’s going to be tough for me. That’s why I am putting together of list games that I want that are coming soon. That will be another post for another time. What were your final thoughts on E3? What did you like the most about it? Let me know in the comments below or leave a link to a blog post if you have already shared your thoughts. Until next time! Blogging live to you and yours! It’s your boy TWOTALL4UFOOL! 1. I liked Sony’s presentation, but I think they’re getting too overconfident. If they’re not careful, Microsoft and Nintendo will overtake them.

      1. That was the first thing I tried to do when they released Fortnite on the Switch. I thought I could reclaim my PS4 from my 8 year old. Bad business Sony.
